Historic records relate that the original building was founded by the Friars (this is proved by the small church still present on the site); over the years it was turned into a flourishing farm as it can be inferred by the structure and also by the orchard.Because of the ancient features still visible (such as wooden walls, clay and straw bricks, stone pavements, wooden and iron-wrought pieces of furniture) the hotel is considered as a National Trust building. All rooms are characterised by wooden pieces of furniture, iron-wrought beds, stone walls and floors, wooden ceilings.Some rooms are located in the most ancient part of the building, dating back to the nineteenth century, whereas some others are in the part of the Hotel which used to be a farm in the first years of 1900. The refurbishment of the Hotel safeguarded the features and the magical atmosphere of the original building.All rooms overlook the so-called "corti", large courtyards that would serve as a meeting point for the farm’s inhabitants.At Hotel Il Monastero you will experience a relaxing yesteryear holiday: the chirp of birds, the mountain fresh air and the gentle breeze coming from the sea.
